GangPay Personal Data Protection & Privacy Rights Policy

1. Introduction

GangPay respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Personal Data Protection & Privacy Rights Policy explains how GangPay collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information when users access or use the GangPay mobile application and related services.

2. Data We Collect

GangPay may collect the following types of data:

  • Name and surname
  • Email address or phone number
  • Profile photo or avatar
  • Group and contact-related information
  • Expense list, bill-splitting, payment, and balance information
  • Uploaded receipts, images, or documents
  • Device information, app usage data, and log data
  • Notification preferences

3. How We Use Personal Data

GangPay uses personal data to:

  • Create and manage user accounts
  • Create groups, expense lists, and shared tabs
  • Calculate balances between group members
  • Display expenses, members, and settlement information
  • Send app notifications and reminders
  • Improve app performance, security, and user experience
  • Prevent fraud, misuse, or unauthorized access
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. Legal Basis for Processing

GangPay processes personal data where necessary for the performance of the service, user consent, legitimate business interests, compliance with legal obligations, and protection of user rights and platform security.

5. Sharing of Data

GangPay does not sell personal data. Personal data may be shared only with:

  • Other members of the same expense group, where required by the service
  • Technology service providers supporting app infrastructure
  • Analytics, hosting, cloud, security, or notification providers
  • Legal authorities where required by law

6. Group Visibility

Information entered into a group, tab, or expense list may be visible to other members of that group. Users should avoid entering sensitive information into shared fields, descriptions, images, or receipts unless they are comfortable sharing it with the group.

7. Data Storage and Security

GangPay applies reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. However, no digital platform can guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

Personal data is retained only as long as necessary to provide the GangPay service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and maintain business records. Users may request deletion of their account and associated personal data, subject to legal and operational limitations.

9. User Rights

Depending on applicable law, users may have the right to:

  • Access their personal data
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request deletion of personal data
  • Object to certain data processing activities
  • Restrict processing of personal data
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Request data portability

10. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

GangPay may use cookies, SDKs, analytics tools, or similar technologies to improve functionality, measure app usage, detect errors, and enhance security. Users may manage permissions through device or app settings where available.

11. Advertising

GangPay is free and shows banner ads provided by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland; Google LLC elsewhere).

All ads in GangPay are non-personalized. They are not based on a profile of your interests or on your activity in other apps or websites. They may be chosen using general context, such as the app itself, your approximate location (country or city, derived from your IP address) and the time of day.

To deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and prevent fraud, Google's advertising software in the app may collect:

  • your IP address;
  • device and app information, such as the device model, operating system, app version and language;
  • device identifiers, such as the advertising ID;
  • ad interaction data, such as which ads were shown and whether you tapped them.

We do not share your name, email address, phone number, groups, expenses or any other content you enter in GangPay with Google or any other advertising partner.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland we ask for your consent through Google's consent message before ads are loaded. Elsewhere, we rely on our legitimate interest in keeping GangPay free. You can review or change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices.

GangPay does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies and therefore does not ask for tracking permission on iOS.

12. Push Notifications

GangPay may send push notifications related to expenses, group activity, reminders, settlements, security alerts, or product updates. Users can manage notification permissions from their device settings.

13. Children’s Privacy

GangPay is not intended for use by children under the minimum age required by applicable law. GangPay does not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate consent.

14. International Data Transfers

Personal data may be processed or stored in countries other than the user’s country of residence. Where required, GangPay applies appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.

15. Third-Party Services

GangPay may contain links or integrations with third-party services. GangPay is not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of third-party platforms. Users should review third-party privacy policies separately.

16. Changes to This Policy

GangPay may update this policy from time to time. Updated versions will be made available within the app or on the GangPay website. Continued use of the service after an update means the user accepts the revised policy.
